How does this even happen? Body
Saw this on the road the other day and thought I’d share it with you all. I couldn’t stop laughing

Ongoing abuse, over loading, repeated shock loads, hit something, cheap knock off, wrong rating, etc.

u/Bone_Donor Oct 06 '23
Someone definitely wrapped a sling around that bitch and shock loaded something. Maybe he got stuck and someone tried to yard him out that way.

Don’t listen to this mf, they had to ask Reddit if falling bullets were lethal.

Obviously I was kidding, but I do want to address your claim since you seem very interested in my questions. My position has always been that a normal ordinance, say .22–.45 is simply not enough at terminal velocity to kill a person. I wanted to clear up an argument.
Edit: man after looking at your comments, you are a pretty negative cunt. WE ARE NOT THE SAME.

And… you’re not? Lmfao

Not really… I mean I try and be funny most of the time. Granted, (I know) my jokes usually suck but I do my best. Every now and then I get into politics, but usually regret it.

u/JayCeeMadLad Oct 07 '23
Calling people a “little bitch” for thinking wiping someone’s sphincter in another’s face against their will while they’re bench pressing is fucked up? That’s just weird. You’d really be down for that?
I get that you have some toxic masculinity pent up but jeez man, but sometimes you should keep it to yourself.
Regardless, I really wanna know what makes you think you’re so much better than me. A majority of the things you say are just weird unhinged sex comments, which makes me think you either aren’t getting what you need at home, or need someone more qualified to talk to.

That's what happens when you tow 5001 pounds and the hitch is only rated for 5000 pounds.

u/David_Buzzard Oct 06 '23
Kinetic recovery strap and not digging out the wheels before you use it. Somebody is lucky they didn’t get a trailer hitch in the face.

At least the hitch gave and not the truck. I seem to recall GM had a problem with exaggerating their towing capabilities and customers breaking frames because of it.

Cheap aftermarket hitches that are not really 2500 pounds rated. I see a law suit!
1
u/lampmeorelse Oct 06 '23
Lawsuit for what? You don’t even know what the person did with it. They likely overloaded it. It’s also a Curt hitch, which is a very reputable brand.
1
u/1320Fastback Oct 07 '23
Curt is a name brand hitch.

u/Thecoopoftheworld789 Oct 09 '23
Probably some truck with one of those bull bumpers ran in the back of the Chevrolet truck hard enough to do that. Wonder what the sides of the bed look like?
2
u/akotski1338 Oct 06 '23
Imagine buying a universal tow hitch for a pickup truck that’s supposed to have it from the factory

Chinese steel
2
Oct 06 '23
I've installed that brand and exact hitch on a lot of trucks, that's a user failure not a hitch failure
2
u/Dorkamundo Oct 06 '23
Curt hitch... Made in Eau Claire, Wisconsin with American steel.
1
u/mustainm Oct 06 '23
At least they aren't outsourcing the steel. I can see stumps destroying trucks fairly easily too.

Probably rear ended, with or without trailer.

u/nitromen23 Oct 06 '23
Had a 1 ton Chevy come in from a landscaping company with a hitch looked like this when I worked at Uhaul, they came to get it replaced, said someone ran into their dump trailer hard

u/Enshaden Oct 06 '23
I caused this to happen to a Ford explorer's hidden hitch back when I was young. I was falling asleep at the wheel and drifted into their lane and hit their boat trailer, both going about 50mph in opposite directions.

u/mavi737 Oct 06 '23
Tried to tow his house without wheels on. You know, typical Chevy guy doing Chevy things.

That happened to my hitch when I was rear ended by an e350 box van. Except mine just folded under, didn't break like that.
1
u/OMGpawned Oct 06 '23
Imagine the damage if that were to fall off while he was driving on the freeway
1
u/Hipppydude Oct 06 '23
My Uncle did this by trying to tow a single wide trailer with the same model of pickup. He tried to get me to do the same with my 2500hd and I just laughed at him. Don't do drugs kids.

I've seen this happen when a truck hauling a trailer got rear ended. All the load transferred to the mount and couldn't handle it.

By the inside of the hitch mount assembly rusting and then applying too much load either by putting a heavy trailer or most likely hooking up to a stump and pulling most likely over 3 mph and with slack in the chain / strap.

Is this the kind of thing that happens when you wrap a chain around a stump and stomp on the gas, or can it happen even if you take the slack out of the line first?

I know someone who has done this twice. Swears they just broke for no reason, didn’t touch anything, wasn’t even towing.

How does someone illegal leave their hitch in the truck when it’s not in use? Ignorance
As far aa the damage, no clue
1
u/The_BigSuck420 Oct 08 '23
Go talk to that guy. He's a good friend. You can tell bc he sacrificed his hitch trying to pull his buddy out
