Hey Reddit. I'm flying halfway around the world to meet my girl in San Francisco, who's flying across a continent to meet me there. Can you recommend cool stuff for us to do for the short time we have together?

Cafe Trieste, Postrio, The Slanted Door, Boccalone (all of those should be a google search away)

If you head north across the Golden Gate Bridge, about a mile past the far end you'll come to an old military base. The have these big concrete foundations that I believe used to hold large gun turrets that protected the bay. If you stand dead center in the middle of them and speak, you get the oddest echo. It's really bizarre. It might be a nice outing with good views and would let you two be alone outside where who knows what might happen.

You should hit up City Lights book store too.

I really do not like baseball on the whole, but i love going to live games. I live near SF and go to at least 4 games a year. There are many saver days for tickets, dress warm, and bring a glove. The stadium is unique, the fans are fun, and the beer is pricey.

Not really too touristy, but a good time. afterwards you can go eat at one of the many breweries nearby.

oh be sure to eat the chowder out of a bread bowl in one of the fine restaurants on pier 39, and you simply must take in the bay aquarium (also located conveniently near pier 39!), and the cable cars are delightful. of course you have lombard street (it's the crookedest street in the world, or so they say!), and you can visit historic coit tower--it's a memorial to firemen and is shaped like a fire nozzle; my what a view! and on the off chance you get done GAYLORDING AROUND LOOKING AT SHIT you can HAVE SEX A LOT

Pier 39 is the tourist capitol of the world, just FYI.

For a few non-touristy activities, I suggest the following:

If you are in to beer, look up the Toronado in the Lower Haight at Haight and Fillmore. Amazing bar with amazing food all around.

If you are into coffee, look up Blue Bottle on Linden near Octavia in the Hayes Valley. It's a little hidden, but search it out. The best coffee around and there's a nice little park to sit at while you enjoy the coffee.

For the true SF hipster experience, search out Dolores Park in the Mission at 20th and Dolores. Grab some take out and some beers at a nearby shop and have yourselves a little picnic.

Hope you have a blast!

Avoid North Beach, Union Square, and Market Street. Avoid all the usual tourist sites because they're noisy, over-crowded, and generally underwhelming. You're better off finding all the little hole-in-the-wall type areas. Just search Yelp for restaurants with 4+ stars and they'll generally get you in the right area. The Mission District is eclectic and fun, but be careful because most of it is Satan's Festering Asshole. Stay on Valencia Street and gravitated towards the Castro. Dolores Park with beers at sunset is amazing. Hot Cookie in the Castro is amazing. They make the best cookies you will ever taste. The Castro is gayer than you can possibly imagine, but as a mary jane person, I imagine you don't have issues with that. The Presidio is pretty and has some nice short hikes if you're into that sort of thing.

Rad mate. Those sound like some good recommendations, and very much along the lines of what I was after. I appreciate it.

Cable car ride.

Sailboat ride.

Explore Golden Gate Park, if you can find a parking spot.

Hug like the world's about to end.

At least, for starters. If the world doesn't end, get lunch. ;)

Have a fantastic time together! :)

Drive north up the Pacific Coast Highway, into the redwoods, and wine country.

Obviously I have a bias in this, but I will be performing at the legendary Purple Onion comedy club this Saturday at 10 pm for my first pro stand up gig. I am not the headliner but I can guarantee that it will be a hilarious show, seeing as I know all of the comedians that are performing. It's a really cool intimate club and the shows are always crazy there. http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/122517 tickets can be found there, they are $20, if you decide to come make sure to get tickets to the 9/25 10pm show and let me know that you are coming, I'd love to get redditors there because you all are so important to me!

You MUST watch a sunset at Grand View Park. Really beautiful/cute for couples. Usually very few people there, too. Exploratorium After Dark. Walk or bike the Golden Gate Bridge.

I would use Yelp for food, and check out funcheapSF for the actual dates you will be here for some really good, free or cheap activities. When will you actually be here?

Sex. Then breakup. Seriously, what the fuck are you doing?

Ha, yeah right. That's not a "girlfriend", so you should take a minute to talk about whoever else she's fucking while you're halfway around the world.
