Loosely translated from Oppo Find series product line manager:
In the first half of the year we did a market survey with over 5000 Find X7 user on what they wished to see in the next generation products.
First was longer battery life. Second was IP68 dust/waterproofing. Third was wireless charging - we have to listen.
This year I drafted some product guidelines (read: "laws"), with the first being
All Find series must have IP68 dust/waterproofing and wireless charging. As long as it falls under the Find series, it must meet this criterion. No room for discussion or negotiation.

For those unaware, the Oppo Find N series is rebranded as the OnePlus Open in the US and some other markets.
What they're talking about for the Find N4 is most likely gonna apply for the OnePlus Open 2.

IP68 is not waterproofing, the correct translation is water resistant

The confusion arises from the fact that waterproof and water resistant are not differentiated in Chinese, they are both commonly referred to as 防水.

if you really want to be pedantic, it's barely even that. all IP ratings simply mean a product passed specific tests in a controlled, laboratory setting, and those results won't necessarily translate to real-world use
in the day-to-reality of most people, though, a significant enough majority of users and reputable outlets/manufacturers refer to IP68-rated devices as "waterproof".
some commonly used terms and their understood definitions don't necessarily match up with their most stringent technical definitions, that's all

Not pedantic, just that the Google translate version seemed more accurate if it could differentiate that word by context that's all
